Frequently Asked Questions
1. Product Information
We use real spirits, wines, and liqueurs, as well as natural extracts, fruit juices, flavors and any other common ingredient you’d find a top cocktail bar. We do not use any artificial sweeteners, flavors, preservatives, or colors.
We work with patchwork of trusted, handpicked distilleries that specialize in different spirit categories. Most of the spirits we use are private label and not consumer facing brands. However some are, such at Perry’s Tot Gin from the New York Distilling Company and Faccia Brutto Apertivo, from Brooklyn. The majority of our spirits are produced in New York, distilled from NY grown crops.
Our cocktails range from 10.5-11.5% ABV
Yep! Social Hour focus on bubbly and refreshing styles of cocktails: fizzes, Spritzes, mules, highballs, and Collins. That said, we never rule anything out.
Our cocktails are adaptable to whatever suits the moment. They are refreshing enough to drink straight from the can and flavorful enough to stand up to ice. Add a garnish for the full craft cocktail experience (find suggestions the back of our can!).
Yes! 1 can = 1 generous cocktail serving. They can also be split nicely into two short cocktails if you feel like sharing with a friend.
2. Storage & Shelf Life
No, our cocktails are shelf-stable and do not require refrigeration, but we highly recommend serving them chilled for the best experience.
About 9-12 months, or longer for some, when stored in a cool, dry place. Over time, natural ingredients—especially fruit juices—may subtly change in color or flavor, but they remain safe to drink, even after the best by date listed on the bottom of the can. Notably, the Passionfruit Pacific Spritz shows the most variation over time because it contains some wine. But it is still delicious!

6. Miscellaneous & Brand Story
Social Hour was founded by Tom Macy, former beverage director of the world-renowned Clover Club in Brooklyn. After over a decade of tending bar and creating menus, Tom took on the challenge of transferring his creations to a can without sacrificing any quality.
Tom was hired as a barback at the Clover Club in 2009 by pioneering cocktail luminary Julie Reiner. Julie served as a mentor to Tom and helped him launch the Social Hour brand in 2020.
The company launched in 2020. Tom spent the next 4 years self-distributing, honing and tweaking there brand along the way. In late 2024, Social Hour entered into a distribution partnership with T. Edward Wine and Spirits and have began to expand into other markets.
Tom’s entrepreneurial journey was also inspired my his Father John Wm Macy who started his own company, John Wm. Macy’s Cheesesticks. Baked artisanal sourdough and cheddar crackers and twisted breadsticks. The company started in their downtown loft in NYC in 1985 when Tom was 2. John ran and grew the business over almost another 40 years before selling it to Del Sol Foods in 2023. John tragically passed that same year.
The name Social Hour is the term Tom’s grandparents used for cocktail hour, which they ritualistically held almost every day. This family tradition instilled Tom’s lifelong reverence for making time to connect and savor a moment over a great drink. At it’s core, this is what Social Hour Cocktail represents.
Unlike other canned cocktails, our founder has over a decade of experience bartending and has been obsessing over making the best pre-mixed cocktails ever for just as long. Social Hour brings you the quality, passion, and creativity of an award-winning cocktail bar in the convenience of a can like no one else.
Social Hour was the term Tom’s grandparents used for cocktail hour — a daily ritual of pausing, connecting, and enjoying a drink and some snacks. That tradition became a mainstay at all Macy family gatherings (often with his dad’s Cheesesticks on the table) and inspired Tom’s lifelong reverence for the value of making time to enjoy something meaningful with the people around you. Social Hour Cocktails carries that spirit forward: a reminder to slow down, connect, and savor the moment.

Social Hour Flavor FAQs
Yuzu Sunset Fizz
A bright and refreshing vodka fizz featuring inspired by a Tom Collins. It’s bright, citrusy, with prominent notes of ripe peach and a floral touch of jasmine.
Yuzu is a Japanese citrus fruit that tastes like a mix between grapefruit, lemon, and mandarin. It imparts a kind of clementine-like profile in this cocktail.
Over ice in a highball glass and garnished with a lime wedge of grapefruit peel. wheel—or just enjoy it straight from the can.
Pink Peppercorn Paloma
A subtle but intriguing twist on the classic Paloma, made with tequila, pink grapefruit, pink & black peppercorns, lime and salt. Tequila and grapefruit lead the way, balanced with a savory edge from the salt and a subtle peppery tingle on the finish. It also happens to be an industry favorite amongst bartenders.
The pepper is a subtle accent that supports the savory elements supplies a warming spice on the finish. But it’s not nearly as spicy as jalapeño or other ingredients typically used to add spice.
A Paloma is a classic tequila cocktail invented in Mexico in the 1970s. The name means “Dove”. It is made with tequila, grapefruit soda (think Jarritos, Ting, etc), salt and a lime wedge. However, many bartenders today make Palomas using fresh grapefruit juice, which is more like a tequila Tom Collins with a distinctive bitter grapefruit note. Social Hour’s Paloma is fashioned after the traditional Guadalajara Paloma. We crafted our own sparkling pink grapefruit from scratch.
Over ice in a highball glass rimmed with salt, garnished with a lime wedge.
Passionfruit Pacific Spritz
A tropical Aperitivo Spritz (think Aperol Spritz) but less bitter. Featuring juicy notes of passionfruit, guava, and strawberry, with a tangy, lightly bittersweet finish.
The white wine is sourced from the Finger Lakes region in NY. The Aperitivo is from Faccia Brutto, made in Brooklyn.
In a wine glass over ice, garnished with a orange peel or slice. Maybe a cut strawberry or two!
Whiskey Mule
Bourbon whiskey blended with our very own Jamaican-style ginger beer. You’ll get notes of fresh zesty ginger root, toasted oak, and lime peel, with a pitch-perfect spicy kick on the finish.
This one swaps vodka for whiskey, giving it a more robust backbone but with ginger still at the forefront.
In a rocks glass, or better yet, a hammered copper mug, over ice with a lime wedge. Add a slice of candied ginger for next level presentation.
Navy Strength Gin & Tonic
We wanted the most perfect Gin & Tonic we could imagine. To do so, we took a beautiful craft gin from Brooklyn and created our very own custom-made tonic water to match it. The two are perfectly balanced together and carbonated more than you could ever get a G&T from scratch. This is as good as Gin & Tonic’s get.
Navy strength is gin that is bottled at 57% ABV. If alcohol at this ABV spills on gunpowder, the gunpowder won’t be destroyed. Thus British naval ships always stocked gin that was 57% ABV, or “Navy Strength”. The gin we use, Perry’s Tot, is bottled at 57% on the shelf.
We use Perry’s Tot Gin from the New York Distilling Company. A classic gin with some modern accents including the use of wildflower honey as a botanical (not a sweetener). It is bottled at a proper Navy Strength of 57% ABV.
We created our own tonic water to pair specifically with the Perry’s Tot Gin. Because this is the only gin it would ever be mixed with, we could be very precise. It’s crisp, clean, and heavy on the quinine — a tonic water for the devoted Gin & Tonic drinker.
In a highball or collins glass over ice with a lime or lemon wedge. A rosemary sprig is a nice touch too!
Cucumber Matcha Mojito
A classic Mojito with a refreshing lift. Mint, lime sine through with a boost from crisp cucumber up top and a touch of grassy Matcha on the finish. It’s a cool breeze on a warm summer day.
It’s subtle, imparting a hint of grassy earthiness on the finish. The cucumber and mint are the dominant notes.
Virtually none. There are trace amounts in the Matcha that we use but at the quantities it is not detectable.
In a highball or collins glass with over ice, or better yet cracked ice, with a mint sprig and cucumber slice.
